Doug Belshaw

Doug Belshaw

Doug is an educator, academic, and researcher/analyst at JISC infoNet in Newcastle, UK, an advisory service for managers in the post-compulsory education sector. His research explores Open Educational Resources, mobile learning and digital literacies, the latter of which he is completing his doctoral thesis on through Durham University.

Doug is interested in “user outcomes,” which he defines as being at the overlap of education, technology and productivity. Before his foray into the world of post-compulsory education, Doug was a history teacher and, more recently, Director of e-Learning at a large 3-19 age academy. He is a big fan of the potential of educational technology, yet the question he asks most is "Where's the pedagogy?" Doug is concerned as a father as well as an educator at the lack of public debate about the purpose(s) of education, leading him to co-kickstart a co-operative social enterprise called Purpos/ed. You can find out the myriad of places Doug resides online by visiting his website.
